16 April 2016 - Toronto Branch 2nd Annual Heraldic Studies Day, Branch AGM & Dinner
The 2nd Annual Toronto Branch Heraldic Studies Day took place at Trinity College University in Toronto. We were treated to presentation from Dr. D’Arcy Boulton, UE, FRHSC, AIH, FSA, Mr. Jonathan Lofft, The Reverend Canon David Bowyer, FRHSC and Mr. Derwin Mak. Following the completion of the Study Day, the Toronto Branch Annual General Meeting for 2016 was conducted in accordance to the Branch By-laws.
Our day together ended with a dinner attended by the 29th Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, the Honourable Elizabeth Dowdeswell, OC, OOnt, and a large number of Branch members and friends.

Hogtown Heraldry Volume 26, Issue 2 (April) was mailed out to all members of the Branch.
 
20 February 2016 – Branch Lunch at the Scottish Rite Club of Hamilton

The Toronto Branch held a lunch at the Scottish Rite Club in Hamilton, Ontario where following lunch we were taken on a historical tour of the estate and Scottish Rite Cathedra. A photo album from the event is on the Event Photos page.

13 January 2016 — Back issues of Hogtown Heraldry: Vols. 9, 10 and 11 added to online archive.
Summaries of these numbers remain to be compiled.

11 April 2015 - Toronto Branch 1st Annual Heraldic Studies Day, Branch AGM & Dinner
The 1st Annual Toronto Branch Heraldic Studies Day took place at Trinity College University in Toronto. The day included a number of presentations on various Heraldic topics from some very knowledgeable branch members. Following the completion of the Study Day, the Toronto Branch Annual General Meeting 2015 was conducted in accordance to the Branch By-laws. The festivities of the day finished off with a wonderful dinner at Trinity College, and an interactive lecture from Mr. Brian Gable, who is an editorial cartoonist with the Globe and Mail.  A fuller account of the presentations can be found here. 11 December 2014 – Branch Christmas Pub Night

Faculty Club, University of Toronto
The Branch celebrated Christmas 2014, with a pub night at Faculty Club, University of Toronto. The event was a casual evening of celebration and fellowship for all those who attended.

17 October 2014 – Dinner with Sir Conrad Swan, KCVO, FSA, FRHSC, Toronto Branch Patron
Royal Military Institute of Canada
A small dinner was held in honour of our Branch Patron. To give him the opportunity to meet members of the Branch Executive, and a small number of Society members, while he was visiting Canada.

Hogtown Heraldry Volume 23, Issue 2 (June) was mailed out to all members of the Toronto Branch.

30 May - 1 June 2014 – Toronto Branch AGM and National AGM
The Toronto Branch hosted the National AGM as well as the Branch AGM. Members enjoyed a gala dinner at the Arts and Letters Club. Jonathan Good, who delivered the Beley Lecture on Friday evening was installed as a Fellow of the Society.

22 February 2014 - Heraldry Dinner Hamilton
The Hamilton Club
Guest of Honour: Mr. R. Gordon Macpherson, CM, FRHSC

The dinner was held at The Hamilton Club in Hamilton, ON and was the first black tie event the branch has hosted in a few years. The evening included a lecture by Mr. Derwin Mak OStJ, on the The Chinese Armorial and Chinese Heraldry.

It is with great sadness that we report the passing of one of the Toronto Branches members, Colonel the Honorable John Ross Matheson, OC, CD, QC, LLD, FRHSC who was best know to Canadians for being the Founding Father of the Canadian Flag.  He was also one of the Founding members of the Royal Heraldry Society of Canada in 1966. He will be missed by many members of the Society and the Branch.
 
19 December 2013 – Branch Christmas Party
Trinity College – University of Toronto
Special Guest: Professor Richard Schneider
The Branch celebrated Christmas 2013 with a reception at Trinity College, the event was a casual evening of celebration and included the release of the New Hogtown Heraldry newsletter, and a presentation on Byzantine Heraldry by Professor Schneider of St Vladimirs Orthodox Seminary.

28 September 2013 –  2013 Toronto Branch AGM
Hart House -  University of Toronto
The Annual General Meeting of the Toronto Branch of the RHSCE took place at Hart House, Uof T, and was proceeded by a dinner for members and guest. During this evening a new executive board was elected Mr. Jonathan Lofft (President), Captain Jason Burgoin (Vice President), and Mr. David Birtwistle (Treasurer),with there first duties to appoint directors to the board. As well a cheque was presented to Hart House for the restoration of the Coats of Arms within the building.

15-20 March 2009 - Toronto Branch at the ROM...
Royal Ontario Museum
Volunteers from the Toronto Branch had setup and manned a presentation on heraldry at the ROM during their annual March Break week. The display area included the ever popular "colour your own coat of arms" for the kids visiting the museum.

13 December 2008 - 5th Annual Christmas Dinner
Royal Canadian Military Institute
Special Guest: Ms. Karen Bailey
The special guest and speaker, artist Karen Bailey presented her experiences with her trip to Afghanistan in June 2007 to document military medical personnel at the Role 3 Hospital in Kandahar. Her presentation at the dinner include numerous photographs of her travel and experiences at the Hospital, many of which were poignant.

19 November 2008 - Heraldry Presentation

Past President David M. Cvet, with the assistance of Society member, Russ Howe together delivered a presentation on arms and armour, concluding with a presentation on heraldry whereby the patients were encouraged to colour their own arms, and one of the arms submitted by the patients was chosen and offered a prize of a wooden shield, primed and ready to be painted with the patient's arms (hopefully by his parents!).

The dinner was held at Hart House and included a presentation of a cheque for the amount of $1,000 towards the Great Hall Heraldry Restoration project. Allan Bird, President of the Society also presented a cheque for the sume of $500 towards the same project.

26 April 2008 - Official Opening of Armorial Bookplates Exhibit
John M. Kelly Library, UofT
Special Guest: R.Gordon Macpherson
The display of the bookplates were presented at the John M. Kelly Library, UofT displaying the works of well known, heraldic artist, R. Gordon Macpherson. The display included glass cases on the floor, depicting relevant and colourful heraldic books and an interesting display depicting the "process" of creating a bookplate from line sketches to the final product.

15 March 2008 - 14th Century Medieval Tournament

A late 14th century medieaval tournament was organized by David M. Cvet, Past President of the Toronto Branch, and President and Founder of the Academy of European Medieval Martial Arts (AEMMA) on Saturday, March 15th at the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM). The tournament's volunteers included other members of the Toronto Branch including Robbie Sprules, and was attended by other Society members including George McNeillie, John Wilkes and Kevin Greaves.

Special Guest: Dr Christopher McCreery, PhD
The 2006 Annual General Meeting of the Toronto Branch of the RHSC took place at the Royal Canadian Military Institute, and was followed by a dinner for members and guests, featuring a keynote speech by Dr McCreery on his book, The Order of Canada: Its Origins, History and Development.

9 December 2005 - First Annual Christmas Dinner

The Toronto Branch's first annual Christmas dinner, a semi-formal affair was graced with the presence of past principle dancer of the National Ballet of Canada and recipient of the Order of Canada.

A special dinner was held on Saturday, 22nd October, honouring the new patron of the Toronto Branch, Sir Conrad Swan, KCVO, FSA, at the Royal Canadian Military Institute, Toronto.
